February Favorites

Hello, hello.  Are you dying for Spring to arrive like I am?  I love to garden and enjoy nature so the crave is so intense.

Anyway, today we are talking about all the things that I was loving in the month of February.  I will start with makeup.  I have been really impress with the formula of Joah Beauty Matte Lipstick and particularly loving the shade Pie Bites.  I wrote a post about how it is a drugstore dupe for Mac Velvet Teddy here.  Go check it out for review on the formula and comparison swatches on the hand and lips.

I am also enjoying the limited edition face palette from Charlotte Tilbury.  I gravitate toward face palette in general because they are so convenience for travel and it is always a plus when a palette also contain a setting powder.  Actually the setting powder is the star of this palette for me.  It amazingly blurs any imperfection and does not look dry or powdery.  My T-zone which has enlarged pores look so beautiful with this on.  Even though it is a limited edition palette, I think the powder is the same as her Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder.  I actually just received her setting powder today in the mail so I will be comparing the two.

Next up is Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara.  I struggle with mascara because most of them smudge on me.  I also have straight, rather short lashes.  This mascara does not smudge, provide lift, lengthen, and a bit of volume for me.  The brush does pick up a lot of product, in the same way as Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara so you have to make sure to scrape off the excess, which I am not too crazy about to be honest.  However, with the right amount of product, you will get a lift, separated, fan look as promised.

Phew!  So far, we have only covered makeup, now lets talk about the 3 skincare items that make a difference.  Origins Dr. Andrew Weil For Origins Mega-Mushroom Relief & Resilience Advanced Face Serum (what a mouthful) is a repurchase.  I used this 9 years ago in 2010, I remember because I packed it with me on my honeymoon.  This serum is effective at keeping inflammation at bay and when use at night, I wake up with skin that is clearer and less redness.  I think they also improved the formula, it used to be a beige color and kind of stink but not anymore.  Give it a try if you are battling with redness.

For the past two months, my skin have been on the drier side.  Which ironically also cause it to be acne prone.  Peter Thomas Roth Acne Clear Invisible Dots is a gentle, non drying spot treatment.  Main ingredient is .5% salicylic acid, it also contains tea tree oil.  One day I had a painful pimple that did not go away after one overnight treatment.  I wore the dot again during the day (it's not obvious) and by the end of the second day, that pimple was no longer painful when touched and it went away soon after.

Last but not least is Tony Moly Earth Beauty Mud Mask Sheet.  Unfortunately Ulta does not carry this anymore but you can still find it on Amazon or Tony Moly official page.  When I first opened it,  I thought it was gimmicky, mud in a sheet mask, really?  I left it on for 40 minutes per the direction and to my surprise, the mud did not dry out after 15 minutes.  My skin felt so calm and sooth.  Afterward, my skin did feel very clean and refresh.  It is basically a mud mask with the hydrating and soothing benefit of a sheet mask in one.  I am sold!

I hope you enjoy my mini reviews of these favorites and until next time.  You can also follow me on Instagram here.
